We'll try to recreate #2 at a later date. Until then, here's a quick update on yet another wonderfully meaningful day.
Each day we are getting to know each other better and enjoying each other's company more. The conversations are lively, the laughter is hearty and the sharing is deeper and more meaningful. We've been blessed by one another.
Our time for the next three days will be centered around the Sea of Galilee--a moving and powerful place to dig deeply into the word and remember stories that are familiar to us all.
Visits and teaching lessons today included:
- Sepphoris
- A rainy visit to a theater in Sepphoris, a location outside of Nazareth. Sepphoris is quite likely a city in which Jesus worked as a stone mason with his father Joseph, and the location of the first recorded miracle--the wedding feast where water was turned to wine. Our teaching lesson centered on Jesus' work as a stone mason, and as we listened to the sound of a jack hammer in the background, we considered whether there are places in our lives that need to be "chiseled"/ smoothed out.
- Mt. Precipice
- The place where Jesus was threaten with being thrown over cliff. This was a perfect spot to view the city of Nazareth.
- A Lesson on a Mosaic
- We visited an intricately restored mosaic which gave incites on seating order of that day--particularly pondering the seating order of the Last Supper and the implications of where the disciples were seated.
- Mt. Arbel
- Where we looked out over the region around the Sea of Galilee where Jesus spent 60% of his ministry.
- Migdala
- An excavation project dedicated to the important work of women in scripture in the ministry of Christ.
- The Sea of Galilee
- Finally we arrive at the Sea of Galilee where we boarded a boat and remembered the "Peace be still" miracle--when Jesus calms the sea.
After this full day, we checked into our home for the next three days--a very comfortable kibbutz--Nof Ginosar on the shores of the Sea of Galilee.
Our hearts are full.
